Mothers Raising Sons, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that exists since 1999 for the purpose of providing comprehensive counseling, mentoring, seminars and educational services for
at-risk single female parent families raising boys to become successful men. 
At the time she was a single mother of three sons herself, CEO, Executive Director and founder of Mothers Raising Sons, Inc., Lisa Norwood has had personal experience with the numerous social and economic factors that contribute to the problems facing a single parent. Ms. Norwood’s professional experiences and working for the juvenile court system inspired her to want to help others in similar situations and prompted her to found Mothers Raising Sons, Inc.
Today’s youth face surmounting obstacles in normal development. It is demonstrated by the increasing rate of antisocial behavior, drug usage, teen-pregnancy, poor school attendance and performance, school dropouts, the spread of STDs, juvenile delinquency and crime, and violent behavior involving youths. These indicators are very alarming and in some cases are likely to forever erode a young person’s chances of becoming a productive citizen with a stable life, family, career and place in society.
